Another Successful Year!
Asby Concert Band brought the 2007 - 2008 year to a resounding conclusion with another visit to Chatsworth House in Derbyshire. Resplendent in our orange polo shirts and black ACB fleeces - and yes we did need them, even in July! - the Band managed to play for two hours without rain interrupting play.
An appreciative audience enjoyed film selections from 'Pirates of the Caribbean' and 'The Cowboys', popular pieces like 'Never on a Sunday', and, of course, 'The Trolley Song', and even a couple of Polkas -' Tritsch-Tratsch' and 'Thunder and Lightening' - to bring back memories of recent tour to the Black Forest in Germany.
The Band now starts a well -earned summer break; we recommence rehearsing on the first Sunday in September, and start preparing for our first concert of the 2008-2009 season at Ibstock. The Ibstock concert will commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Ceasation of Hostilities in 1918, so bring your flags to wave, and be in good voice, because we will be playing the likes of 'Pomp and Circumstance No.1', 'Jerusalem' and 'Rule Britannia'.
So a big 'Thank You' to all our Members, Patrons, and Supporters for all your contributions to a memorable and overwhelmingly successful year. |
