Entry Level

The entry level is ABRSM Grade 6 or equivalent. Admission is always subject to a satisfactory audition, but we don’t press new players to take their audition on the first night, or in front of everyone else, unlike some bands! The audition consists of playing a Grade 6 study of your choice, followed by a sightreading assessment. Musicality, intonation and timing are the main attributes being assessed.

Becoming a Member

Once you have completed a satisfactory audition you will be invited to become a full member of the Band. There is an initial, one-off, Joining Fee, and termly Subscription Fees. Subscription can be paid by cash/cheque at the beginning of each term, or if you wish, you can set up a Standing Order with your Bank.

Rehearsal Nights

Practice Night is every Monday evening starting promptly at 7:30 p.m., through until approximately 9:30 p.m. We take a 15 minute coffee break for socialising, and then back to business.

ACB is a true Community Band and welcome players of all ages; we have an entry standard of Grade 6 on your chosen instrument.
